The companies’ embrace of embedded finance—banking-like services offered by nonbanks—aims to retain customers and increase their so-called lifetime value. Core banking systems handle a high volume of transactions and are expected to function without interruption—prolonged outages can invite regulatory scrutiny, customer opprobrium, and significant loss of revenue. Legacy core banking systems have traditionally succeeded in terms of reliability.
The improvement of e-banking and active relationship managers are the driving forces behind this. Those are activities that are meant to offset the effects of the macro-trends.
